ET - Topspin Backhand

Knowing how to play the backhand slice is very important, because it gives you a lot of options in situations that would otherwise seem dire.

However, in modern tennis it is not enough to simply slice the ball back into play on every shot. You need a topspin backhand with which to put pressure on your opponent and win points quickly.

Indeed, the backhand was for many decades more of a defensive shot used to stay in a point, but in modern tennis it is an essential tool of aggression in the complete player’s arsenal.

Caution! It is often very tempting to hit flat shots, both off the forehand and backhand. However, while these do on occasion produce winners, they also lead to more errors than shots with topspin. Topspin allows you to force your opponent into error while also avoiding errors yourself.
